Social Networking and Podcasting Grow Closer Together

One of the most useful tools in Podcasting, Feedburner (recently purchased by Google) has introduced a new Headline Animator system to enable the latest updates from Feedburner users to appear as animated headlines to the millions of Facebook Users worldwide. The headlines will include feed update and additions from blogs, podcasts, vodcasts and any other feed that is registered through Feedburner.

Similar to MySpace, Facebook is a social utility network, extremely popular with University and College students that allows users to keep in touch with their friends and new people that they choose to “add”.

This will arm you, the Podcaster, with yet another valuable marketing tool and is certain to increase podcast traffic and listenership worldwide. If your podcast has a marketing purpose then this could add another great way to spread your brand, especially amongst the 16-30 year olds who are often the most difficul group to target through traditonal media.

The Headline Animator will appear as a dynamically generated graphics and will display the five most recent items in a subscription feed. Feedburner promise that users will be able to fully customise the graphic to reflect their own brand. It will be able to be placed in a variety of locations including email footers, online bulletins and headers for blogs.
