Web Tutorials for Schools, Can This be Useful for Business Too?
The power of using web video for teaching has been realised by Brightstorm a video site that brings the most talented tutors into contact with students that need a little more help. Although based in the US it’s clear that this is a model that could work across the world. Brightstorm launched yesterday after gaining a six million dollar investment from Korean company KTB Ventures.
The videos on the whole are well done and there are currently 20 teachers covering core school subjects. They may well be criticised perhaps for being a little over produced but the addition of interactive elements such as pop up quizzes to test knowledge learnt and bonus material makes this an all round effective package to be built upon for the future. Similar sites are proving very valuable and useful in the US with the likes of ePrep, Teach the People and Grockit and educational establishments are likely to follow suit in the UK as well. Many universitites for instance are already using the power of audio podcasts to re-distribute lectures and extra curricular information within their intranet systems.
The point is, no matter what age or walk of life your from most people would rather watch a ten minute video on their computer than endure pages of a written tutorial or watching the office techy geek race through it far too quickly!
If you have staff or customers that need to learn somthing within any element of your business, and its likely they will - perhaps your new website, CMS / Intranet system or your new software product? Why not see the difference that presenting a tutorial in multimedia will make. After all you want to make sure it’s fun and easy to learn don’t you?
